red fish, blue fish...
I love that book by Dr. Suess. I have 2 of my own fish. As I always say, Brent has always loved the water since his first bath. He's never minded putting his head under the water and the one major difficulty at bath time was getting him to keep the water in the bathtub. Oh yeah, and not to jump off the side of the tub into the water!!
Caitlyn, on the other hand, has never liked the water. She despises putting her head under the water. Every summer we would go swimming she would cling to me and would
Finally this summer has changed!! It's so fun to take these guys to the pool and watch them swim and enjoy themselves. Yesterday Caitlyn was being the swim instructor in the pool and teaching Brent. She wants to be on the swim team now. I'm not sure what will happen but I know we've come a long way!!
On another note, I took Cali (our 12 year old yellow lab) to the vet. She has been throwing up for a while now and it is progressively getting worse. The vet had first thought she may have lymphoma but thankfully her blood work came clean this morning. We have to keep an eye on here lymph nodes, but our main goal at this point is to try to get her to stop throwing up. We have started her a sensitive diet and will feed her in the morning and at night. Our vet did say that he doesn't believe that she is in any pain so it seems like she good. Me on the other hand - cleaning it up so much - well yuck!
Besides being heartbroken for myself knowing what is coming soon, it's my kids that I really worry about. They still talk about Chauncey and that's been over two years. Cali has lived a good, long life with many, many days filled with hunting and retrieving birds. But now she sleeps every night with my daughter. Oh, the emotions that I can see before me in the next year or so. When the kids found out we were taking her to the vet, the kids immediately asked if we were taking her to heaven and broke down in tears.
