My Bed

My sweet girl asked me this morning with the most excited voice, "Mommy can I please make your bed?" Of course I agreed. She ran and threw her arms around me and told me thank you for letting me make your bed. Now I will admit that I make my bed um, once in a blue moon. I know shocking! She worked very hard and when she was finished with decorative pillows in all. She stepped back and we looked together with such pride. She asked, "What do you think?"

It looks beautiful.

I just want to savor this moment.

Brent has been sick this week. Cold, cough, laryngitis, and fever. Many times Caitlyn would tell me that Brent was sick. She was very concerned. They would lay together on the couch. One time I found her holding him on the couch. The love between my two children is so precious. I am so blessed!

It's Beginning to Feel A Lot Like Christmas!

This weekend was busy! I managed to get the Christmas tree decorated and the Christmas cards in the mail.

It was a pleasure to have my darling Caitlyn help me! She is becoming quite the organizer. I showed her how to lay out the ornaments first so we would know what we had to work with and how to start with the red and white ones first. She did very well actually. There are many clumps of ornaments and my tree has been redecorated multiple times already but it is being well loved!

Brent is doing well with the Christmas tree and he even hung a few ornaments. His sister gave him directions and he was sure to follow! It's amazing how he listens to her better than he listens to me.

Caitlyn and Brent figured out how beautiful it looked with the lights out and Brent quickly become in charge of the lights. It has also been really nice to have Caitlyn turn on and off all the Christmas lights in the house.

Today we enjoyed hot chocolate in front of the Christmas tree while we stuffed Christmas cards. Caitlyn really enjoyed putting labels and stamps on the envelopes. She did an excellent job too. She is such an excellent helper! Can you tell I'm so proud?

There is much more to do but I'm taking it one moment at a time and enjoying it all! I hope your Christmas preparations are going well too. Merry Christmas!!

Catching up!

I am so bad at blogging these days. I have tons to write about and not enough time. Oh well, for the 3 of you out there, here are some fun things going on!

Brent is talking non-stop. He is talking in sentences, repeating everything we say and absolutely adorable. It is fun that others are able to understand him as well. He is proud to be in "unerwer" (underwear). He is obviously a self-starter like Jeff because he took on this task and we are following through. I'm in awe at how well he is doing especially after Caitlyn's potty training was such a train wreck.

Caitlyn is doing well in school. She can write her first and last name and is beginning to inquire about how things are spelled. Yesterday she told me that go was spelled "g-o". I love that! She loves to dress up - all the time. Thank goodness I found some good deals after Halloween on princess costumes!! She will love those presents for Christmas. We pick out Caitlyn's clothes every night for the next day. The other night she couldn't decide on an outfit so I stepped in and made a choice after about 15 minutes. She was so upset and cried, "Put it back. I want to be pinkalicious!!" I had picked out a brown shirt and jeans. When I picked her up at school she still had her pink jacket on and zipped all the way up. Little stinker!

Jeff is full swing into hunting and is on a new deer lease where there is more for the kids to do, i.e. four-wheeling. Luckily Caitlyn is old enough to go several times this year. Last week Jeff took Caitlyn and I got to spend time with Brent. After he settled down from crying hysterically that he didn't get to go we had a great weekend together.I love teaching first grade! There is nothing better than seeing your students learn to read! I have also been scrap booking digitally and I just got my first book. I made the blog header at the top which I am very excited about.

Fall Festival

We picked up our friend Carson and went to our neighborhood Fall Festival.
Of course the first step was getting our face painted.
Even Brent wanted a pumpkin on his face. I love how still he sits!
We got to ride ponies, jump in bounce houses, chase Brent out of the bounce house, carry away a crying boy from the bounce house and luckily there was a fire truck!!!
Don't the look precious!
Unfortunately the last of the hats had been given out, but my kids didn't know any better. They loved sitting in the drivers seat.
Who knows maybe they will be a fireman or firewoman?

Six Flags at Night

We went and enjoyed Six Flags this season at night. It was chilly, crowded but still fun.
The kids are enjoying getting candy at every location. Mom, not so much!
Caitlyn is finally not so scared of cartoon characters.

Brent loved riding the train and started saying, "all aboard!"

Caitlyn rode the big swings this time! This completely freaked me out but she loved it!

Pumpkin Patch

Caitlyn is quite the poser these days. We started out at the Pumpkin Patch in a maze.
Brent loved it and it was great this day because we were the only ones.
They have a great stage where they show movies when there is good weather (which is hardly never).
Thank goodness for Jenn so we could get a family shot.
The kids in the pumpkin house.

Caitlyn was scared of the spider at first so this is good that I could get a picture.
Brent and his buddy Mason with the huge pumpkin.
One final picture with all the Caitlyn, Mason and Brent!

Deer Lease

We spent a weekend together with Jeff at his new deer lease. We had a great time and had very nice weather. Although we needed about 5 more pairs of socks for Brent, all in all it was a great weekend!
Jeff was able to cut branches and clear a path in his deer stand for bow hunting.
See all his hard work - not really!!!
We lounged.
Lounged and played in the dirt.
Rode on the four wheeler.
Played in the dog kennel.
Danced.
Climbed on all the structures. And did I mention went in and out of the trailer, over and over, bringing in mud and dirt. Again. And. Again! Love my babies.

Around the House

I often walk in and find Brent and Caitlyn reading. On the couch, in the office, or in Caitlyn's bed.
I love the Superman shirt in the flower bedding! Priceless!
You can catch Brent in a basket!
With a book!
Or on the couch! And believe me he was just jumping. Caitlyn has her Leapster!
Cheese~
I love these precious moments!

Another Cake

In September we now to get to have cake 9 days apart. This can be a good thing or bad, depending on how many friends you can find to eat it with you!!!

Today is my birthday and I have had a really good one. Last night Jeff took me to a great pizza place in downtown named Zanata. It was low key but very fancy! It reminded me of Albuquerque.

My morning started off with my friends in class singing me happy birthday with a twist. At the end of each line kids now add, "eat more chicken". None of us are sure what it means. Perplexing! They don't really even know?????

My team brought me a gorgeous cake and when I got home another friend had sent me a beautiful flowers and a candle. Tonight I am spending time with the girls. So even though I am half way to 70, which sounds extremely frightening life is really good.

There is a monkey on a back. That I must put to bed now.

Fun Celebration

Here is Brent on his 2nd birthday, the actual day. It was so cute because I took about 3 pictures and he loved looking in the camera and then going back and posing again. Love that smile!
I made his cake and enjoyed having a few minutes to decorate it. It was one of the calmest things that I did all day. We had several close friends over to bar-b-q and have cake and ice cream. Very low key but so fun.
When I showed Brent his cake he even said, "wow"
Luckily Brigette had the idea to get a family picture. I'm so pleased with how it came out.
Mason and Brent had fun playing and talking with the dogs through the window.
Present time was fun. Brent had lots of good help opening presents and tons of fun with all the goodies!
